| | | The day you don't...... take your camera with you, you are making a big mistake.
Today, we finished school, so it was all up the local for a coke/orange(of course ), for a good-bye gathering.....I won't need my camera I thought this morning.....
As we sat chatting in the pub garden, what turns up? Just a superb Southern Hawker that proceeded to land in the bush next to us, a Ruddy Darter....that actually landed on our table amongst the glasses, on the wall of the smoking shed...a newly emerged Peacock Butterfly and a Devils-Coach-horse beetle scuttled across the pub path and threatened us with it's tail. Out popped a wren and sat on the back of a pub chair until the local robin saw it off to take it's place.
Typical!
Take your camera with you wherever you go...you can be assured that you'll miss a whole bunch of wildlife if you dont!!

| | | Re: The day you don't...... Coming home on Monday afternoon I was lucky to spend ten minutes in close company with a Marsh Harrier. Did I have my camara... did I 'eck as like!!! I was alternatly spitting with fury and spluttering with joy at the wonderful views I was getting. The bird was flying backwards and forwards over one part of the field of grain, wheeling at the ends of the circuit and was touching down every half dozen passes. After a few minutes one rather shaken Pheasant flew off in a hurry.. the other held out for another 6/7 minutes and it too left in a hurry..the MH then settled again and then flew off with a young pheasant in its claws. I didnt even have the mobile to take pix with!!!!!!

Is a Ruddy Darter the same as a Bloody Mary? |

Matt | This particular pub has an enormous garden at the back with mature trees, sheltered areas and some nice little ponds, just outside the grounds. Sort of made for wildlife really.
I've been there(once or twice before ),when there's been jays, squirrels, green woodpecker and commas, so why I didn't think ahead....I don't know! Just thick in the head this morning, sadly.

Would that be their second or third brood ?
Anyway, if I'd have had my camera with me ............. I think Graham would be having words with me by now !!!
