| | | Live Earth Anyone going to the Live Earth concert this weekend? I got a couple of tickets (pitch standing) yesterday from eBay, so if they arrive today/tomorrow then I'm going down to Wembley
The line up looks like it should a be a great gig and the latest from the bbc is 16-23oC and sunshine |

| | | Re: Live Earth Stu made it aswell, Lucky little swine. He even had the nerve to phone us at my old queens and show off. He was right at the front, about 40 foot from the stage.
Looked like a great concert. I particularly liked the Pussycat Dolls (the lead and the redhead) and Madonna was fantastic. My old chap liked the Pussycat Dolls too (collectively I guess). |

It was a good show, all the bands were great but I must admit I enjoyed seeing Jonathan Ross apologising for the many bands who forgot they were on live 'daytime' tv and used language that would have made my grandad turn in his grave!
Let's just hope it get the message across to a few more people.

| | | Re: Live Earth I watched most of it on TV yesterday and on the whole was impressed with the bands that appeared.
But!.......
Why when bands like Metalica, Keane and Spinal Tapwere on did they insist on showing you some rubbish that happened in Tokyo or somewhere else!
Also It really annoyed me yet again that the rich had the area right at the front roped off for them and most just stood there looking Bored and Miserable!
Yet the real Music and Wildlife fans where made to stand further back and were really getting into the Party Mood.
Its the same at all major events (tennis, Football etc) Executive seats and Boxes are nearly always empty (because they are at bar) while real fans are queuing outside desperate to get in...
I thought Genisis, Spinal tap, Keane and Madonna were great, And i even enjoyed Durhan Durhan
But also agree with the amount of Global damage they caused, made it all a bit Hypicritical

| | | Re: Live Earth I was impressed with Genesis which is fortunate as I'm off to see them at Twickenham tonight. Tony Banks has gone grey They are all into the second half of their fifties now so it shouldn't be surprising but for some reason it still is.

| | | Re: Live Earth I totally agree with you Kymba! I really wanted to see the whole Spinal Tap set and was gutted when they cut to Rhianna in Tokyo. I wonder if the bbc will show any of the edited highlights later on? |

there was also a great quote frrom alex turner (from the arctic monkeys) " why should politicians care what we think just because we're in a band... especially when we use enough electricity to power ten houses for a week just for the stage lighting"
it may have been great musically but I severely doubt that it will make an iota of difference to the pollitical actions - or inactions on global warming or that it will influence even enough peoples behaviour to even to offset its own carbon footprint. About the only saving grace is the money raised for environmental charities - assuming this gets to where it is needed rather than being wasted on pointless admin.
