Re: Why O why.....

The only stuff on TV I watch is the UK Documentary / Discovery channels,
and if there's nowt on, then it's burying my nose in a book.
Unfortunately, my wife's addicted to a certain house on telly
Looks like I'll be doing a load of reading

Only good thing on at the moment is Sharpe on UK History It's so cheesy, it's just grand.

Now that Springwatch is finished, is there any point owning a TV until, like, a week in Autumn!?

Maybe the Beeb could air a new channel "Every season watch".
Dedicated to 24Hrs coverage of UK wildlife.

Just a thought

Why not just dispense with the presenters altogether. The programmes could be aired 24hrs later with a scrolling information bar. With, if required a highlights programme every Friday with Kate and Simon. Did I forget somebody? No.

Well, I’m with Hairymunkys wife …..I LOVE BIG BROTHER!!
So there you go!
I always tend to think it's like spring watch anyway, with people sitting for hours watching strange little creatures going about their daily business!
From one of the millions of morons!

Why O why ........ don't you get out and live your own life? I can't see the fascination with sitting in front of a box watching how other people live their lives! It's not my kind of fun, but then I never was easy to please.

I used to spend all day and half the night on wab lol, only got up to take the dog out for pee and go to toilet etc.
But it was making my spelling worse and my brain in general so trying to cut down though it`s so addicting

Sorry Carl, I wasn't having a go at you. Don't waste your life in front of the TV though, why don't you walk the dog more often - you'll see more spiders/wildlife outside than on your ceiling!

Another here who decided years ago that television was a waste of time so got rid of mine.

BTW Carl has your set not got an off switch? You are not forced to watch programs you don't find interesting.

There are similarities with Big Brother and watching wildlife - with both you can sit around for hours on end waiting for something to happen! At least with wildlife you have a chance of success.

Re: Why O why.....

I do admire people who choose not to watch TV or get rid of it altogether but then they miss out on programmes such as Countryfile etc. I do try to be selective in what I watch but then if someone else in the household is watching something like 'Big Brother' I must admit I find myself joining in with the rest of the so-called morons so perhaps I am one myself! TV (whether good or bad) is so addictive I feel.

Yer but watching wildlife in more exiting cause you see birds make there fist flight and watch animals fight ann other.Where as with big brother your watching a bunch of people being paid to dos around in a big house, what`s the point.I personanle don`t want to spend my life wathcing people talk.

Tonight Mrs Munky is eagerly awaiting BB, and I'm in the dining room,
trying to figure out how to get enough focus on the web cam to
film the birds feeding
Only good thing on is the second series of Rome.

Re: Why O why.....

Whilst I agree about the standard of some "tabloid" television programmes I do wonder where some of you guys are coming from.

Having travelled the world a fair bit whilst working I have to say that the BBC offers the best service anywhere and it is well worth the license fee in my humble opinion - Personally I would even be willing to pay double!

No doubt some of you would be willing to pay £8-10 to watch a 3 hour film at the local multiplex so if you are willing to pay say £3/hr for entertainment you can afford to switch off the dross and still be quids in with a TV! - did anyone watch the programme about bird song this evening ... wacky in places but a real eye opener ... have a look, watch and listen here

BBC - BBC Four - Why Birds Sing

As for those without TVs, that is your choice and I respect it but a life without TV is a bit like celebacy - it isn't for everyone.
