| | | Re: Britains Got Talent Finalists easily - i dont like kids at the best of times - when they are singing "somewhere over the rainbow" in a high pitched squeak on national radio one it makes me want to leap screaming from my vehicle (which would be unfortunate at 70mph on the A34) and bury my head in a pile of manure to block out the true awfulness of the performance
shes pretty well bound to win - which means we will have to suffer the performance on a daily basis for at least a week , but this will just demonstrate to all concened that in fact britain has no talent whatsoever

| | | Re: Britains Got Talent Finalists Whilst I don't entirely agree that the litle girl is talentless, she did sing pretty much in tune and will possibly be a success when she grows up a bit and her voice stabilises, I just don't think children of that age should be in this type of competition.
The reasons I don't think they should be there are
1) That it is effectively putting them to work and I wouldn't want to put my child under that type of pressure,
2) The voting is more on sentimental lines than talent, so not a true reflection on the quality of the performances and
3) Linked to the second reason, good performers are often outed to let a cute but not particularly talented kid go through, as nobody wants to upset them, including the judges.
Otherwise there have been a couple of talented acts, thought the ventriloquist that went out when the little girl got through was good, plus the singer songwriter could have a future, although his second performance was not that great and I'm sure he'll get picked up elsewhere.
Can't vote I'm afraid, as I haven't seen them all. |

I liked the sound of this guy very much, but I'd much rather listen to Slash playing his riff on "Sweet Child O mine"! rock me babe

| | | Re: Britains Got Talent Finalists I'm a heavy rock man myself, but I can generalise as well. I suppose my tastes can cross a lot of borders but I honestly don't know how you can only recognise what is good within the regime of your own tastes to the exclusion of anything else.
If you have watched this programme I don't know how anyone can dismiss the talent that Paul Potts has shown.
Here is a man that has come from total obscurity (mobile phone salesman) and has never done anything like this before and yet he comes out on stage note perfect. I can appreciate that and whilst I am no opera fan I can recognise that this man is a bit special.
I also can see a talent in the 12 year old. She has a future in musicals if she is groomed right for the future.
I must admit that I don't understand when people knock this sort of show because it is not in their tastes. Just because it isn't in one's taste doesn't mean it's a bad show. After all a high number of millions would disagree with you.
I also think this type of show is needed to give some people their 15 minutes of fame and who knows it might produce something special.
For me personally I am not a fan of reality shows but I have to hold my hands up this time and state that for the most part I have enjoyed this series and I think it has produced some excellent finalists. It has certainly given a good cross section of finalists from the Combat Breakers to the Barwizards and given some people their 15 minutes of fame that just might change their lives, and that can't be a bad thing.
Who have I voted for, Paul Potts. I really think he would bring the house down at the Royal Variety show and all for the right reasons, because he is a talented opera singer.

objectively i can see that some of these people have talent - tho i also agree with rolf that children shouldnt be put under this kind of presure talent or not- but that doesnt mean i want to spend my saturday night watching them , or to hear it reported as "news" on national radio

Throwing them into the limelight like this could have a damaging effect once they have been rejected. I also feel they have a lot more growing up to do before the pressures of showbiz are thrust upon them.
I now look forward to seeing Paul Potts on the Royal Variety Show and to the reaction he will get.
I'm wondering if Simon Cowell is going to offer him a contract seeing as he stated that he thought that Paul Potts would be recording an album next week.

| | | Re: Britains Got Talent Finalists Who??? I didn't watch it - never watch any of the "reality" programmes or anything with "Celebrity" in the title because of a deep seated prejudice so I don't know if it and he were any good at all. But surely he can't possibly succeed in show bizz with a name like "Paul Potts"?
ps: I've now just realised why I've been hearing a lot of puzzling references to Pol Pot on the radio recently. I knew I was going deaf.... |

| | | Re: Britains Got Talent Finalists Well I am not into opera but Paul Potts singing gave me goosebumps.Even my 21yr old daughter and her partner were willing him to win. What a fantastic voice and a lovely person. That will show the bullies that they didn't win as Paul proved it with that voice and winning the show.Good luck to him for his future which will be a good one with that voice
