Stupid chav fishermen

In my local Park (Rapheals Park, Romford) there is a big lake, one end which is 100m+ across is designated for fishing. The other half is narrower with an island in the middle of the lake at the dividing point. Now I have seen fishermen in the wrong half and there is fishing line and floats in the overhanging branches there which is bad enough. But you cant help but laugh at the dumb arrogance/stupidity of these to blokes:

Its written nice an large for them to see as they approach were there fishing...

But fishing on the markings!

Obviously didn't pay attention in class and do their reading! Mind you, I think those markings on the ground need sorting out,pretty worn aren't they and where's the park warden?

lol. There are 2 in the whole borough, looking on the website. Take into account there are more t5han 10 parks in Havering and add in the facts that there probaly busy phoning there mates in the office most the time and there probaly too scared bout ending up in the lake by trying stop people. to be fair - i used to be a park ranger - the warden / ranger service has no real power to resolve the issue anyway.

the ranger tells them to move , theytell him to £$%& off whats he going to do - technivcally he can call the EA to enforce their fishing laws (hmm yeah that'll be effective

) or he can call the police and have them ejected - assuming the police dont have anything more pressing to do and he can get past the nonemergency line switchboard asking for a postcode

them - yes sir whats the postcode of the incident
me - its a lake it doesnt have a post code
them - we need a postcode in order to be able to respond effectively
me - but its a lake .... etc

I would be sorely tempted to kick the fat bald guy in the drink!

It's things like this that get my blood boiling- a total disregard for any hint of the law. I'm not a violent man, nor do I condone murder, but I think there is a serious problem these days with people like this; sometimes makes me think wardens, rangers etc etc should be armed and be allowed to go stalking or lamping.

I am of the opinion that people who do this sort thing enjoy confrontation and are waiting for someone to say something, best to leave them be.
Even if you do feel like giving them a good kicking and I often do

, some one will one day.

Could some sort of deterent not be put up, like a goal post type of bar that prevents them from effectively casting? I guess there aren't the resources for such idea's but I should imagine that would depend on the damage caused...

Having previously canoed a bit I hate ALL fishermen, apart from the ones that catch my dinner

What does it say on the ground where they are fishing?

I can guess what it said when it was first put there but it doesn't make any sense to me now.

The other writing on the ground is also a bit ambiguous no fishing from where? The 'No' or the 'Point'?

If the Council can't be bothered to upkeep their signage why should the fishermen be bothered to comply?

There is a sign on a pole just to the left of the shot and another at the other end of the no fishing zone. There is also a yellow line just below the shot (sorry my photography isnt the best!) the writing is clear enough in real life, though it could do with a fresh coat!

thats a very good point. I proberlyw as a bit unfair to the ranger there. I guess its a similar problem with the chavs on there scoters/bikes doing stupid speed down footpaths across parks

very true - though when i was in mk the police had actually started taking those a bit more seriously , particularly those stupid mini moto things - they were being confiscated and crushed

mind you this still depends on the police being there at the same time as the offender as the ranger has no police powers to do anything - we used to fantisize about being like the american wildlife rangers , with full police powers and armed - probably just as well we werent tho as i would probably have wound up shooting someone for flytipping

I love it typical Romford!!!

I gotta say if i was the park warden i defenatly wouldn't ask them to stop, even if they were a couple of 2 yr olds cause, let me tell you Romford chavs start young and i wouldn't be surprised if at the end of their line was the pinky toe of the last bloke that asked them to move!!

He is quite within his rights to merely point out that the 'No Fishing' notice is incorrect since there clearly IS fishing being carried out. Something similar occurred on the New York underground when smoking on the trains was banned. A person was fined for smoking and successfully won his case in court.
'Fishing prohibited' would be more correct except that they would probably have more difficulty understanding 'prohibited' rather than 'no'.

Having done a fair bit of fishing on various rivers i've come across good and bad in both. It's all about respect IMO, some Canoe people have been terrible, showing no respect for anybody else on the river, same with boaty people, driving far to fast and sending huge washes to the bank

and the same can be said for some anglers(like the ones in the photo)
