| | | Littering I returned home after work and there was a delivery van in my reserved parking space. As I reversed back to one of the non reserved bays I saw the driver of the van drop a load of hand made note slips on the floor. Essentially they were probably blank A4 sheets of paper ripped up into maybe 8ths.
After parking my car I walked over to the van and the driver, on seeing me coming, wound his window down. I explained I had seen him drop the litter but he denied it was litter as 'the paper was blank'.
I was shocked that an adult could think in such a way. Needless to say after a word with him both he and his mate were walking around the car park picking up every piece of paper.
Earlier the same day I saw a bloke in his 50's take a spent pack of 10 Embassy out of his pocket and slip them onto the floor. I followed him into the shop, where he proceeded to replace the empty packet. I quickly paid for my diet cola and followed him out and pointed out his error, asking him to pick them up
He looked at me like I was mad. He then got into his lovely new expensive car. What an example to set kids. At 50+ you would think he should know better. |

| | | Re: Littering Boddie, I come accross this quite often. I was going up to feed the foxes the other night when I was just about to pass this car when I saw all sorts of rubbish come flying out of this car's window so I stopped behind the car which was about to leave blocking them in, I got out of the car and told them I wasn't going to let them out until they had picked it all up, after a lot of abuse from them I told them I was an off duty policewoman and they would be in trouble if they didn't pick it up and guess what they picked it up and appologised and said it wouldn't happen again they were also parked about 3ft away from a rubbish bin. I often pretend to be a council official or an off duty policewoman and it always works You should try it sometime |

I have a menacing stare and am very good at uncomfortable silences. I simply make my point then silence, eye contact. Never fails. |

I would try that you are far less likley to be abused if they think you are in authority, and they know they are in the wrong and could get a fine. |

Its' a disgrace the amount of littering going on, fly tipping etc. It doesn't seem to be diminishing either. |
