Isn't it great to see that all the Lottery money taken away from other good causes is being well spent on this picture of discarded packets of prawn-flavoured crisps/new Olympics logo

I wonder how much it cost...I bet it was at least 20x more than what this charity spends in an entire year.

In fact, Wild About Britain probably spends less than it cost for the Ready Brek that gives those packets of crisps their nasty yellow glow.

did I say 20x the cost of Wild About Britain? Better make that nearer 200x Here's us scratching around to find a few quid to make badges etc and the Olympics committee gets so much cash that it clearly thinks nothing of taking the oooo by producing this rubbish.

I don't think the 2012 Olympics will have to look too far for its first candidates for drugs testing.

I'm surprised it wasn't more than £400k that to be honest. I have heard larger sums mentioned when it comes to re-branding firms and even universities (where re-branding simply means a new way of writing the company's name/logo!).

It's meant to appeal to the yoof, sorry youth, apparently with its hint of graffiti art. Perhaps such subtleties are lost on anyone over 30

Of course, the kids on the street will be wetting their sides at the attempts of the middle-class, 40-something, suits (aka disco dads) that thought they were being 'hip and trendy' when they put this new brand together.

Don't forget that £400k will include an enormous handbook explaining exactly how the monstrosity is to be used - where in the page, what size, what colour etc etc. Probably details of how it's to be used on flags and everything else. These graphic designers really earn there money!

yep i heard that as well - isnt the total cost of the olympics approaching a billion or so - i guess we know why - and they have the cheek to be looking for volunteers to be crowd marshals because they "cant aford" to pay for this.

We shouldnt be supprised after all this is from the same geniuses who spent / wasted 2 billion on the millenium dome ... much of which was looted from lottery funds too

A good point, one I was think about as a I went around today. They'd proberly end up paying the 'artist' (I used the word very loosely) who designed it compensation for loss of publicity/ stress when his design wasn't used.

They basically should have held a competition. Im sure professional designers would have done it cheap or for free for all the publicity! The 'artist' is no doubt one of the olympic commities friends/relatives

It is a really SAD SAD world. That logo sucks big time and the decription of "edgy" is only apt since that is how it makes me feel when I see it!!!

Any one of the EBD boys I teach could have come up with a much better logo than that one! And they would only have been happy with a trip to Macdonalds and a new PSP as a reward! That is pretty sad too I know!
