| | | Wildlife Pub Names(for fun) If you were given the chance to name a pub with a wildlife name, what would it be?
Eg-The Two Blackbirds
Mine would be 'The Odonate Arms'
What would yours be?
No rude ones...just for fun!

| | | Re: Wildlife Pub Names(for fun) I came across the "Sand Martin" yesterday near Grays in Essex.
Resisted the temptation to go inside .... not .
There is also one near Ely called the "Lazy Otter".

I was actually thinking about this last night (until I discovered the football on Eurosport) and wondering why there are so few plant/animal named pubs in Sheffield (we tend to go for industry, aristocracy and architecture). There's the ' Red Deer' although the 'Old Red Deer' is closed, or is it vice versa. There's 'The Grouse' on the way to Baslow. I'm sure there's a 'Red Lion' somewhere.
Hey, good idea for a fact-finding field trip .... |

| | | Re: Wildlife Pub Names(for fun) We still have quite a few old pub names in Lancashire - White Crow, Swan With Two Necks, Oak Tree, Grey Mare, Dog & Partridge, Hinds Head, White Hart, too many to name but we are losing a few to fun pubs.
My favourite name is the Blue Boar on Deansgate in Bolton been there well over a hundred years. Hope it's not had a name change.

| | | Re: Wildlife Pub Names(for fun) Apparently there are:
The Sociable Plover at Portsmouth
The Drunken Duck at Ambleside
The Rat and Parrot at Bath
Within two mile of my home there are:
The Beehive
The Roaring Donkey
The Snooty Fox
OK, the first two are more domesticated animals so perhaps don't count.
My suggestions would be:
The Tipsy Tiddler
The Stooping Hawk
The Stridulating Cricket |
