| | | Different seasons, different sights We've just returned from a 'regular' walk which takes in an old nursery (rumoured to be developed for housing soon), then on through crop fields, woods and across meadows, then a wooden bridge over a beck and back along a track and fields once again, to home.
The sky is blue, the sun is shining and there is a multitude of wild flowers to be seen en route. What really struck me though was how different this walk is at various times of the year - today the trees and hedges are taking on a variety of green hues, but you can still see through them to the landscapes beyond, which soon will be hidden from view.
And, if you took the trouble to look upwards now and then, the beauty of the trees branches and young leaves against the blue sky was fabulous. So many shapes and textures. Butterflies fluttered by, 'things' moved in the undergrowth and the odd steam train made its way past - idyllic. Aren't we lucky to live in such a beautiful country, with so much variety both in weather, seasons and scenery. (And so many of these pleasures are to be seen in cities too).

Tinkerbell | Great words Tinkerbell! I often walk my dogs through woods and a nature reserve near us as the scenery can change from week to week, especially at this time of year!
So many people miss out of so much by just not opening their eyes and looking!

| | | Re: Different seasons, different sights Going through fields and crossing over bridges remind me of when I used to ride my horse out on hacks. You get to see lots of things out riding and walking you don't get to see otherwise. I love this time of year when everything is coming to life after winter. Though the winter scenery is just as beautiful. I agree with you we are lucky to live in such a beautiful country. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
