| | | Now here’s a tricky question … maybe! What would you do with your time if you if you weren’t a WAB member?
Has anyone calculated their time spent here?
I have … and I reckon I have learnt so much from so many … time well spent in my opinion

John | Well to be honest, I'd probably get more house-work done but I've always been interested in wildlife and nature so would probably be sitting here reading a book about it instead! It's much more fun sharing an interest with like-minded people and learning too.
WAB has encouraged me to venture forth with it as a career and I've met lots of people I perhaps wouldn't have before.
I think we've all been brought together for the greater good of wildlife. Stu being the leader.

I stop and see things everywhere in my garden in hedgerows and verges a
lot of them I know their names now.I have bought books,binoculars,Piccolo-
scope,DSLR, tent.
I used to just observe and move on now I have got to know
(I still only know a little about a lot but hey thats what a grasshopper mind is for)
*amn you British Wildlife | Wildlife, Nature and Environment Information I write letters to MPs to DEFRA to Local and County Councils I accost strangers and mutter your name promising enrichment of the soul and a WAB Badge

| | | Re: Now here’s a tricky question … maybe! I Dont know what i did before WAB. I have learnt so much about so many things in the four months i have been a member, and become interested in many things I had never taken much notice of, they were just there. And made many friends that share my passion for wildlife
But the downside (if there is one) is that i come on the computor to do research and think just have a quick look on WAB, Next thing i know several hours have past
I just get so caught up in the posts I lose all track of time.
I end up having to rush around doing domesticated thing before Steve gets in from work, so it looks like i have been really Busy!!!
But i wouldn't change it for anything.. WAB is the best website I have come across in the 10 years I have had the internet
Thanks Stu

| | | Re: Now here’s a tricky question … maybe! I only joined in Januuary and I hardly remember what spare time is now. Before reading was my preoccupation apart from the garden and working on the website. Now it's "I'll just check what's happening on WAB" for 5 minutes and become side tracked and before I know it it's not spare time any more but working time . Our house isn't quite so tidy but there have been no complaints as yet! I, like Kymba rush around before everyone is due in and have a mad tidy up.
I have learn't so much thanks to WAB so replacing books with a computer has done no harm at all I have actually become less insular and not so caught up in mundane matters. It's so nice to be able to share views and information with others and have those little questions answered so readily and cheerfully and a bit of banter along the way.
Long Live WAB! |

However since finding myself such a wonderful man, I am on here less, he is quite a distraction hee hee. However, he is in the RAF, so is away quite a bit so then I can resume my compulsion during those periods
he really is the perfect man |

I'd be doing all the things I said I was going to do when I retired, instead of spending my time either browsing here for lost hours or out with the binoculars and camera that I never used to carry everywhere with me before, looking at everything and anything that comes my way. I wouldn't be watching those of my friends who aren't wildlife crazy (still have a few, but the invitations are dwindling ) go glazed in the eyes as I wax lyrical about the solitary bees that are nesting in their gardens or the merits of log piles by the pond.
And as others have said, I wouldn't have learned so much and enjoyed so much interesting debate and conversation. So thanks everyone - especially Stu of course - for the fellowship. |

Having said that WAB has made us appreciate nature a lot more though and our garden is becoming more and more wildlife friendly by the day It's a great source of inspiration for us. We're also taking loads of photographs that we might not have otherwise and it's great sharing ours and seeing other people's photos and identifying what we've found. We're always on the lookout for something new (well, new to us ). It seems strange now to think of there being no WAB!
Well I thought I had a chess move to make tonight but it appears I timed out this morning!! I'm sure when I looked last night that I'd got until tonight to make my move - must have been the vino playing tricks on me. Oops Anyone fancy a game?

I always hoped I was going to find a site that suited me and this is certainly it: the knowledge, expertise, offers of help, the chat and the fun are something I would not want to do without - so thanks Stu and all t'other members for making this one hell of a great site!!

Actually I'm going be on less through the summer as the longer evenings give me more chance to get out and actually see / photograph wildlife rather than just taking about it - also I am working 10 days on 4 off through the summer which gives me more scope to go away on the days i'm not working
