| | | Re: name change I also regretted my name choice almost immediately - it is very ordinary on such a colourful site as wab.
Suggestion - is there any problem with simply joining wab again under a different name? Admin would notice the same email etc, and previous stuff would not be connected with the new name. However, does that matter ? The previous membership could be terminated if necessary.
Stuart - would that cause any problems for you ?

| | | Re: name change We're currently working on a new connection on the usernames between the different parts of the site that should make a name change a bit easier.
The problems come in from reference area links like the photographer links on these sort of pages - http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/brown_argus_butterfly - which would break at the moment.
Also, any reference to users by their old name (especially abbreviated references) like 'vinny' or 'VC' for 'vinnychameleon' would also have no relevance after a name change.
Each user's profile page has a url with their name in it, like 'http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/forums/members/vinnychameleon.html' and these reference across the site too.
In the gallery there are similar link problems, and we're also playing with a member's homepage setup at the moment that doesn't seem to like name changes much either.
Obviously, the more posts someone has, the more likely there will be a problem, but if you've only got a few then it shouldn't be too bad as there's obviously less to go wrong.
However, we don't allow members to have more than one membership because that creates even more problems.
