| | | site slow down Is it me or my computer, but the site seems to have been very slow for the past couple of days. I do have the alleged 8mb broadband that seems quick enough elsewhere.

| | | Re: site slow down I've only been checking this site with any regularity for a week or so now, and have always found it to be very slow. I thought that that was just the way it is here, but from what you others are reporting, it seems not.
I too have broadband and have had no problems elsewhere on the net. It has got to the point where I click a link on WAB then go off and do something else on another browser for a while before coming back to see if my page has loaded up.
Does WAB have tech support? Would they see this thread? Can we flag the issue up?
Too new here to know the answers myself, but add my name to the list of those afflicted.
Cheers

| | | Re: site slow down Its slower for me than a few weeks ago when I joined, mainly page opening and scroling. I had put this down my recent change to a 'livebox' thing even though its supposed to of taken me to 8mb from 1mb connection.

| | | Re: site slow down It does seem to be going slower for me, although pages still usually load within a 4-5 seconds. The techies fixed something with Apache eating lots of memory yesterday, but it still feels slow even after that. I'll ask them to have another sift through and see if they can find anything

One of the reasons i no longer post pics was this could take for ages.
Im not blaming the site, just felt it was my provider and possibly the fact i use explorer rather than a firefox. |

| | | Re: site slow down I am not finding the site slow at all. Page uploads and viewing images has never been a problem for me whether I am in firefox or explorer.
I have started using firefox recently and last night I uploaded an image, but it has not appeared in the gallery. I have not received an e-mail notification to say whether my image has been accepted or not. One thing I did notice though, was that when I was uploading the image I had to type in the full name of the subject including the scientific name. In explorer, when I begin to type in the name a drop down appears and I can just click on that. This has happened before with another image which I uploaded whilst in firefox and it failed to appear but I uploaded it again in explorer and there wasn't a problem. I forgot about this last night and will try to upload again in explorer.
One more thing, I can use smilies in firefox but not in IE7 but I was able to use smilies in IE 6. Very strange

| | | Re: site slow down I've found the site much slower than usual for at least 3-4 days, no matter what time of day I'm using it. I've reported it to Stu, the site administrator.
The strange thing is when I use Firefox everything is fine, so the problem seems to be limited to IE.
Barbara, there's nothing in the moderation queue from you at the moment, so I don't know what's happened to your image. Sorry!

| | | Re: site slow down Thanks Matt, my image was not approved it, it could possibly have been too small I don't know. I'll give it another go, so apologies to whoever rejected it if it was for another reason other than size. Hope I haven't confused you too much Matt | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
