Staying logged into WAB

If I remember correctly this issue has been raised before several months ago but no definite solution was ever found, so I just wondered with the site membership having grown so much if anyone can help.

I am unable to stay logged into WAB. It's fine as long as I am actually doing something such as viewing different pages or writing posts etc, but if I am inactive for more than around ten minutes I have to log in again. I tick the box that says remember me but to no effect. I am that frustrated with this that I am considering installing Firefox but would really like to keep on using IE 7

I am using IE 7 with McAfee firewall active and AVG antivirus. The computer is fully up to date with all the latest updates. The security setting in IE 7 is set to medium high and to accept cookies.

Thanks
Roger

Hi Roger,

I also had this problem when I first joined ... even clicking on remember me!

IE is fine, I would check your firewall settings again. I suspect it may be McAfee timing out the connection.

Good luck

John

Re: Staying logged into WAB

This will happen if you clear out all yer cookies too. I use ccleaner to clear out temporary rubbish, but have it set to keep certain cookies, WAB being one of them.

Re: Staying logged into WAB

I don't have this problem Roger, apart from when I clear my cookies. Could your system be clearing cookies automatically every few minutes?

Matt

Re: Staying logged into WAB

Hurrah, It's fixed.

John was right, it was McAfee Firewall that was doing it. Altered the settings to let IE 7 have full access and its done the trick. Thanks everyone for the replies and John, Your'e a star mate.

Roger
