Resizing images

I am trying to resize my images to 800 x 600. The 800 goes ok but the right resize box gives me something like 480. How exactly do you resize to exact proprtions? I am on PS pro 6

Its doing that to keep the height/width in the correct proportions.

If you uncheck the "constrain proportions" (or whatever it is in PS6), and alter the size to 800x 600 you'll end up with the photo distorted.

When you put in 800 and the other dimension gives you a figure less than 600 just alter the smaller dimension to 600. An uncropped DLSR shot will resize to 600x900 which is fine for the wab galleries (as they have a 3:2 ratio) , some compacts have a 4:3 ratio instead which will resize to 800x600 no bother

Get a copy of "Easy Thumbnail Creator"
Its freeware and far easier than using PS

One word of warning - unless you put a prefix in it overwrites
the originals.
