Why are my images not being uploaded

Woohoo! I think I've fixed it. Turns out that the permissions on your folder on the server was 755, rather than 777. No idea how it could've happened, but it looks like it's fixed now...and I'll know what to look for if it ever happens to anyone else again

It should work fine now as I've just managed to upload a picture in your name and I couldn't do that that for the last 20 tries until I changed the folder permissions. Let me know if you get any more problems with it.

Sorry it took so long to sort out, but this one had me completely baffled and it turned out to be something that couldn't be fixed via the software, or changing code etc, so I was totally stumped.

Hallo Matt


I have tried 4 times to send a snap of a cuckoo. It is fairly long range but would hopefully meet the quality criteria. I think that I have probably made it too small (below 800x600), except for the last one sent a few minutes ago. Each time, I have received the message that the picture was successfully uploaded. Maybe it was rejected every time. As I have just learnt, it is apparently not feasible to send rejection messages - but perhaps consideration might be given to one that could be sent automatically, saying just that and re-iterating the general criteria required for a successful posting. This would probably not involve our volunteer moderators in too much extra work. I am not a geek and probably talking rubbish.

You will see from a previous post of mine on this thread that I have not always succeeded in having pictures accepted. Occasionally I have been unable to fathom out exactly why as these seem to me to meet all the criteria required. However, I have accepted the moderators' decisions as I am sure they know much more than me and are experienced at assessments - also they have to be objective.

I have recently posted four pictures that I am pleased to say have all been accepted. I received a message for each one to that effect. I did suggest something along those lines previously and I think this is a good idea. (I am not claiming any credit here!).

I was pretty discouraged previously and had not posted anything until yesterday. If any of these had not been accepted, would I have received an automatic message saying so in the same way as the acceptance messages, please? I fully accept that moderators have more than enough on their plates and might reasonably be expected to do no more than generate an automatic rejection or acceptance. It seems to me that it is important to know whether or not pictures have been accepted.

Question answered. I postred four pics today and had three auto acceptances and one auto rejection slip.

Thank you to the nerds for improving matters. All I need to do is to improve the quality of my posts!
