Help Needed with Uploading Photos for Forums

Hi everyone

I am trying to upload a photo to this website so I can post it in a forum thread (the British Birds thread) and have tried twice with both threads removed, saying the photos were external links.

Does anyone have step-by-step instructions that I could use, as I have followed what I thought was correct, but evidently isn't and I don't wish to end up as a banned user.

ok try this
scroll to top of page click on gallery on the right near the top there is an upload click on this then click on archive and it should be plain sailing from there. But if not get back to me and I'll try to help.

I just looked at your bird id thread claire and it appears that you have managed the first bit - however you are pasting the wrong code into the thread. If you use the forum image code (in the white box below the picture) instead of the address (in the box above) then the pics will appear as thumbnails in the thread rather than as urls

Hi everyone, thank you very much for your replies. It is much appreciated, as a new user I am still finding my way round this website, although fortunately I have started to come to grips with it! A

Eeyore - with regards to the forum and URL codes, I did originally try the forum codes in my Bird ID thread but they didn't appear to work, so I tried the 'direct link' codes, which did work, although in a different way (i.e. clicking on the link rather than having thumbnails), so I stuck with it thinking this was the only thing that would work for me! I will try the forum code again, next time I post a piccy, see what happens.

The forum code is the only acceptable method. All you need to do is to make sure you've selected the entire code in the box. The best way is to right mouse click in the box, and choose "Select all" Right mouse click again and choose copy.
This you then paste into your thread, job done.

Make sure you copy the whole of the link, some of it carries on out of the margins of the box, best click at the beginning and keep going right until it stops

That's why I said to choose "select all" No need to do any manual selection.
