| | | uploading I've been trying to upload an image but it keeps saying the filesize is too large. Any idea what I can do? I'm not particularly technically minded.
Thanks. |

| | | Re: uploading Hi,
I'd say yes, archives first.
Hi Bub-les, downloaded pixresizer, but it doesn't seem to cut out the maths, it gives you size options, but when you pick one I can't see where it gives you the finished file size until you've resized it, I.E. what I'd like is to say that the origional file size is 2Meg and I'd like it to finish up at 1Meg, and the prog. say's AHH then it needs to be 640x480, am I asking too much. .
Thanks,
Max.

| | | Re: uploading Sorry no it doesn't give you the answer but it you put the sugested sizes in a calculator that will and you can always used the costom size option to fine tune to get it close to what you want just make sure you tick the "maintain aspect ratio" button. As you get used to the using it you will soon be able to judge which size option best suits your needs. Hope that helps.

| | | Re: uploading You don't have to load to the archives if it's a good shot and you know what it is you can load it up to the main gallery. The only problem will be you'll have to wait for it to be accepted before you can use it in a thread. Normally this doesn't take too long.
The main advantage with the main gallery is that there's no maximum files size limitation. There is a minimum image size, it must be at least 800 pixels wide whatever the format. |

| | | Re: uploading Hope you don't mind me asking my question in this thread, but it is linked with uploading to the gallery.
Today I uploaded two pictures of blackbirds to the gallery - one of a male and one of a female blackbird. Only thing is, the more I look at the picture of the female, the more convinced I am that it is a juvenile male (oops )!
Apart from the obvious question of can anyone confirm my suspicions, my question is: once uploaded to the gallery, there doesn't seem to be any way of changing the title. Is that correct, and if so, is it a case of asking one of you very kind moderators out there very nicely if you could change it?
Thanks

| | | Re: uploading To my far from expert eye it looks like a female to me, at least I'd upload it as a female.
If you notice any errors, it's best to let one of us know.
There is a report image feature but I'm not sure that's working at the moment so you might just as well contact one of the Gallery editors and we'll correct it. |

| | | Re: uploading Thanks Graham - I'll do that.
The thing that's making me doubt myself is the yellow ring round the eye (I don't think females have it) and the beak seems to be developing more yellow. - I just thought that the females aren't so colourful.
If anyone corrects me I'll ask one of you to change the title.
Thanks again.

Thea | I'm sorry, I've had another look and your right. It's a first winter male Juvenile.
As you said, the eye ring is the give away. Not sure how I missed it.. |

I think someone else needs to have a look to make sure. I've gone back to thinking it's a female. For now I've simply renamed it as Blackbird. |
