| | | Uploading images and feedback I uploaded four images yesterday (Blue Tit and Greenfinch) and last time I checked in the gallery it said 'pending approval'. There's nothing there now. I realise of course they may not be considered good enough but if that is the case do we receive some notification as to why so we can try a little harder next time? |

| | | Re: Uploading images and feedback You should receive an email with a guide as to why they were rejected. From recent experience, although I stress I don't know the reason why yours weren't accepted, it's usually because the user hasn't named them correctly, omitted the Scientific name or perhaps not filled in the keywords section.
Can I ask for everyone to please fill the keywords in, lately many of the uploads have had this part missing. I'm currently not rejecting these but it's tiresome having to edit every single upload to correct this. Don't forget to remove the dash between the Common name and the Scientific name as well!
Whilst I'm in moaning mode, also PLEASE put a space between the Common name and the dash! It should look like this:
Southern Hawker - Aeshna cyanea
and the Keyword should look at least like this:
Southern Hawker Aeshna cyanea
Any further words in the keywords should be separated by spaces only, no commas, brackets or any other symbol.
This all may sound petty, but when you've got three screen loads of fiddly little corrections to make every time you go to moderate, these little details build up into a major moan!! |

| | | Re: Uploading images and feedback Graham, I think the problem regarding keywords is that when you click the upload button and the first screen comes up you can upload several files but there is only one space to put the Common name and one space for the keywords.
When the next screen comes up you have to re-nter the information in the relevent boxes. Maybe people thnk because they have entered it once it is ok.
Hope you understand what I am on about.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean Dai.
There is no point putting the Keyword in in the first upload screen. When it goes to the second screen, that data is lost! I'm sure that's what's happening. It doesn't help either that when you view the image, it shows data in the keyword field, when there's nothing there. When users forget to fill in the Keywords, the system shows the Title field there! I only wish it didn't..or even better, I wish it filled it in automatically! |

| | | Re: Uploading images and feedback I'm on a roll After not being able to upload pics to the gallery (since September) tonight I think I have just uploaded 5 or 6 ...... it refused two twice but at the second time of asking it accepted........ I'm not going to get too excited cos this happened last time when I uploaded all my demoiselle pics and then for weeks it would have none of it.
But its been very nice to upload tonight and I will accept small mercies where I can get them!!

I try Graham as you're my bestist mate for uploading when I can't. I do hope it continues to do it - I'm posting from a different spot on my E drive - whether that is a coincidence or the real reason for it working only time will tell.....................
