Still cannot upload my photos

Hello everyone I still cannot upload my photos to the gallery. I get about halfway loading then a internet explorer page comes up with a blank page Helppppppppppppp

How big are your photos? I mean the file size (e.g. in Megabytes) rather than the dimensions. If they are several Megabytes, have you tried reducing the size (i.e. by reducing the quality of the photo, using whatever photo management software you have) and then uploading the smaller photo?

As nobody else seems to be having problems loading photos, perhaps it's something to do with your PC setup. Is your firewall preventing them from being uploaded, for instance?

pete you must remember me when i started to add photoes,ok i have it now but it must have taken me weeks if not months to sort it out.

Almost certainly. If the gallery were rejecting them a note would come up - it wouldn't send the user to IE.

... or are you trying to upload from the internet rather than your computer?

At las some replies. Thank you all first the are only small files well I just looked and the one I am trying to upload is 900k so that may be it second I turned my firewall off to see if it was that and had the same trouble. I am uploading them from the wild about britain website. So when I wake up more I will try a smaller file with the firewall off and see what happens

900K isn't that large, as I recall ....

No I didn't think the file was too big. I have just tried to upload a smaller file but with no luck. I just get a blank explorer page saying Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage strange Well the others uploaded ok??

Hi Jimmer. Couple of questions first. . Do have trouble getting onto the site. Does it have problems loading the actual WAB home home page.

No Brocker the website comes up quick. I have just uploaded a photo but it has gone into the ether

Just to say the photo gets to the half way stage on the progress bar then it says Webpage has expired then I go back and say upload again and to top it all it says upload successful!!!!!! But it is not on the site

Is your file as big as 900kb. It may help to reduce that considerably. The ones I use to post on forums are only between 50 and 80 KB. That is a start. Sometimes the file size can be increased by the EXIF data which is held on the image. This can add to its size without you knowing. Try that first.

Looking in the gallery, searching on your name 'jimmer' and for the last 6 weeks, you've obviously managed to upload photos in the past, though the largest I saw was only about 90Kb rather than the 900KB you are now trying to load. Have you made any changes to your PC recently, i.e. new firewall or anti-virus software?

Also, if you do a search on this forum for 'upload' there are numerous other threads where people have had similar problems. You could go through those for other suggestions.

Pete I have just tried uploading a 90kb file. The only other thing I have done is gone wireless?????????? I have been trying most of the afternoon to upload It still might be me although I am ok with computers I just have trouble working them

That sounds like a time-out from your server. If you have a very/relatively slow connection then it may cut off after 2-3 mins. This would be in agreement with your managing to have uploaded small (therefore quick) files in the past .... looks like you'll need a faster connection if you want to upload big pics ... or try uploading at a time of day when there aren't so many people on line - one server I use often times out when used at peak hours (i.e. most of the evening) but is okay at other times.

Yes I will try at a time when not many people are on but I have a very quick connection it just seems silly when most people have no trouble funny thing is I actually want to stay on this site I don't usually stay on most sites but this one everyone seems to be really into nature sky or whatever so I am quite happy buttttttttttttttttt thanks

You say the only change you made is to go 'wireless'. Did that involve installing a new firewall or anything similar that might have had this side-effect?

Hi Jim, sorry to see you are still having problems uploading. I had trouble a few months back when our wireless connection was particularly slow and it took a few days to upload, I was always getting timed out. In the end we went back to wired. I know this is no help.
Are the "top lengths" of the photos you are uploading a minimum of 800 pixels?

Have you got a flickr account? If so can you upload to that Ok?

You have done it Thank you all for a start Heres the story, Monkster sent me a link to PMG when she was having trouble so I sat and read all the posts and wondered if the image WAS too large by that I thought inches size? So I had a look at the rules and saw there was a limit on the pixel size not the inches size or megabytes size. By chance the photos I had already uploaded were by luck pixel ok, so I had a look at the one I was trying to upload and there it was simple really too many pixels So it goes to show with a bit of thought and cooperation we could save some of the planet. Thanks to everyone
