What's the difference between a Banned member and a Frozen member?

What is the difference between a Banned member and a Frozen member, and why are some members banned and frozen?

What was banned is now frozen. Not much difference other than the name, but frozen is more apt as it's semi-permanent and shows that we might consider changing the status back to member again

A "frozen member" sounds exceedingly painful.

If you were banned or frozen - how would you unban or unfreeze yourself and what can you be banned or frozen for?

Spam, advertising, swearing, offensive posts etc can all lead to an account being frozen. We'll maybe consider unfreezing the account again if, after we've had a longer look at the situation, feel that there's been a misunderstanding or that the member won't create further problems.
