Re: Uploading Images - or not!

Great news Pauline! Ain't that just typical: It would be nice to know the whys and wherefores, but just count your blessings. I know how how much I'll appreciate seeing your work back on site.

My neighbour`s with Talk Talk Pauline and his email often stops working for a while, it`ll start working again eventually.

Re: Uploading Images - or not!

Ahh thanks David........ The whys and wherefores are worrying in that not knowing and not having done anything that I'm aware of (besides reporting it to talk talk . . . and then the email went down . . . wonder if its connected . . . Heh! heh! heh! PMG can now upload . . . poomf . . . oops . . . there goes the countrys email.........)

My friend talked me into talk talk Mark and she's feeling very apologetic and keeps telling me it was trouble-free at first - since I joined - does this ring any bells - PMG now on talk talk broadband - poomf - on the 9-0-clock news tonight will it be 'there is talk that talk talk may not be talking anymore - experts suggest some woman in Lancashire might be responsible. . .

Re: Uploading Images - or not!

Well my neighbour is on about changing to someone else Pauline, but more for the payment side of things than the service, to do with Talk Talk taking too much money out of the bank each month or something.

I think the new software must have overcome my machine - more power to its elbow I say - its time something could knock this new set up of mine into touch.........I'd still like to take it outside and teach it a lesson on the patio (oh no I mustn't say that must I? Not now its working.....sush)

You've no idea the pleasure of seeing them there in a line . . . and I'm so pleased that I don't have to abandon Paint Shop Pro cos it works so well for me .......... think I will go and have that glass of red bull now - so I shall apologise in advance for becoming even more rowdy and 'gobby' later

Haven't been with them long enough to find that out yet - my first bill was more than I expected but that was cos some calls are not free - the bill itself tallied but I will look when another one comes. The trouble is to get the deal you have to sign up for 18 months - I don't know how your neighbour plans to get out of that?

Whatever you can see in your minds eye has absolutely no bearing on what I would actually do to it if I ever snap altogether and do actually take it outside .......

Not sure of the details Pauline but something to do with Talk Talk themselves breaching the contract in some way regarding charges

Re: Uploading Images - or not!

Ok folks you might be tired of this - but you're not as fed up as me - believe me you're not........

Yesterday I uploaded 6 pics.
I set a system restore to document that upload was working at that point.
Last night I prepped a couple more and tried to upload and nothing doing.
I've done a system restore this morning back to the point where it was working yesterday afternoon.....

Now bearing in mind - these pics have all be prepped the same way - PSP including resizing so its not PSP or the way they are resized. They all display the same info - they are the same in production terms.......

When it doesn't work the grey bar at the bottom of my screen says this:

Waiting for HTTP://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/pictures/uploadphoto and the grey bar then progresses until its half way across its space - my tower sounds like its doing something: finally a page appears:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes
Not connected to the internet
Web experiencing probs
typing error in address

Further infor help
Diagnose connect probs tells me there is nothing wrong with my internet connection

And I've checked that SSL and TLS are ticked in advanced connection settings

I feel like a nuisance, esp with all the hard work going on with the upgrade, but it makes me want to leave the website and I know thats not the answer. I spent 14 hours on here yesterday - excuse me but the sun is out here at the minute and I'm going out for the day to calm my equilibrium - if I stay this machine is going out on the patio and it won't be coming back in.........

Pauline

Re: Uploading Images - or not!

That sounds awfully familiar and I'm desperately trying to think how I resolved it.

Either I had a 'hidden' tool bar with settings that were blocking access to sites. (right click on tool bars and see if you have any disabled tool bars lurking and what settings they have) or I switched to Firefox browser.

Hope someone can come up with a solution for you.

David

Re: Uploading Images - or not!

Could you try uploading some to Wild About The World. It's unmoderated so they should go straight in if it works OK

Login - Wildlife Photography

It sounds like a timeout issue, trying to upload more than the PC wants you to be able to, and it can't upload them within a time that a setting has specified (30 seconds, 2 minutes etc)

Keep to just one image at a time. The smaller the better, but also try uploading without any editing, straight off your camera as a jpeg. We now allow any filesize so you don't need to compress it first

Pauline, at least there's a valid reason for your photos not uploading, we just have to find it ... imagine if you spent ages taking the photos, making sure they're suitable, uploading with no problems and then your photos still don't appear. It makes you want to never use this site again. I know how you're feeling.

Re: Uploading Images - or not!

Thanks to Cybershot Dave, Stu and Naz for your replies.... apologies for appearing to play the diva - but being able suddenly to upload after 2 months then it going back to square one by evening - just got to me and I had to go away from the machine - my sanity and its existence depended on me taking myself to a safer place for a while, till I cooled down.........

My days off are coming round again and if nothing else gets in the way I will have a play with the suggestions and contact talk talk by phone - I sent them a long and involved email and of course they now want to talk me thro some fault-finding steps.

I'm still resisting the maybe obvious move of taking it back to the shop mainly cos I don't think he will solve it but rather set it up again from scratch and I'm not willing to go back to the begining twice in three months..........
