How do I insert smilies into my posts?

Try as I might, I just can't get smilies into my posts.

All I have to do is make sure the bar thingy that goes across with your typing, is where you want the smillie to be then move the mouse pointer thing over the smillie and and right click on it, it wont appear as a smillie more like : ), but closer together then when you submit post it should appear, hope that makes sense
