| | | Site running slow. Is anyone else having problems with access to threads and images? On my computer it's painfully slow, and has been for the last two days. It will occasionally speed up, but for the most part, it's as if I'm back on dial up! |

Roger | Yep, it's a pain at the moment. Yesterday I gave up, couldn't do a thing. Today it's slightly better, in fact after I started this thread it suddenly improved and was fine for about 10 minutes, then when I tried some updates, back to slow loading, in fact no loading! |

Mark H | Yep, that's exactly what it's like here. Yesterday the entire Internet was slow, but today it's definitely WAB. Hope it improves tomorrow! |

I just hope it speeds up then. |

It makes moderating a real pain in the you know what! | Graham you can test your ISP speed by using - www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.
I had a problem several months ago with my ISP and used the information received from the above mentioned to prove it was an ISP problem. I don't know what they did but within a few days of giving them the details of the 'speed test' things improved. I have had no problems since.
Just hope I haven't spoken too soon!

John D | Thank you for that link John. I've just run it, and guess what, my upstream result is terrible, only 375.45 kbps!
That's enough ammunition to contact my ISP. |

That's enough ammunition to contact my ISP. | Graham, please note the speed can vary depending on time of day. It's worth doing tests throughout the day, say at 2 hourly intervals. I logged the readings obtained and presented the outcome to my ISP (Wanadoo now Orange) |

I've now uninstalled IE7, just to see if it makes any difference. So far it does seem better, but I'll need to keep on checking. |

It makes moderating a real pain in the you know what! | Who are you with? ntl seems to be running at speed and I am in the same location as you are.
Have you checked you modem cable for knots?
Saying that, my network was down early this morning. |

Saying that, my network was down early this morning. | I'm also with Virgin/ntl. I think I've solved it, or at least found the guilty bit of software. Removing IE7 made no difference, but un-installing Virgins security software did. It's as if my computer has come back to life. Now all I've got to do is find out why it's suddenly gone wrong. |

Mark H | No Mark, no wireless at all here. I'm pretty certain it's now sorted. It was definitely part of Virgins PC security software, the identity theft protection checker seems to be the culprit. I've got everything else now switched back on and all is as it should be. It's weird though, It's been working perfectly well for weeks until last weekend. Only seems to stop WAB though, it must think we're an unsavoury lot. |

| | | Re: Site running slow. I live in the north east and generally things seem OK, maybe a little erratic at certain times of the day. I think I read somewhere that the internet is becoming overloaded and it may be thay oinks like us are, in effect, being rationed.
By the way I am finding on this site a another similar I'm being connected at the time before last or earlier although this can usually be rectified by refreshing. I think I should ask ISP (orange ) to do a line test. | |
