| | | How do I stop getting notifications? Can I change my defaults so that when I reply to or create a thread I don't get a subscription listed for that thread. At present it seems I have to change it every time I post I assume there's a default setting somewhere?

and from what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong, being newbies until we've posted 25+ posts, we don't have access to our Options section to edit our Profiles. So till then the only way as far as I can see is to go into the Control section at the very top, between Register and FAQs, and delete subscribed threads from there.

| | | Re: How do I stop getting notifications? When I first joined I was swamped with e-mails, so I re-set my options, by going to "Control" at the top of the page (in blue). Then under "messaging Control Panel"/"Settings and Options" go down to "Edit Options". From there go down to the 2nd box marked "Default Thread Subscriptions mode" and select an option from the drop down box in corner. Then scroll to bottom of the page and press "Save". I did that and afterwards didn't get 50 emails a day lol. But someone might have a better option to try, (I am not very technical ) |

Wingy | So the best option is just to find any random thread and post "I agree" as a new message just to clock up 25 posts? |

you only have 6 more to go so if you reply to this thread then post on constructively on a few others you will be there anyway.
i'm not 100% sure but i think you can edit your subscribtion options prior to getting 25 anyway - if i'm wrong and you really cant wait til you get to 25 PM stuart dh and ask if it can be changed.
one other thing to note is that changing the subscription options changes from that point forward - you may still get notifications from threads you had previously subscribed to - to stop that as well you need to clear your subscribed threads in the user cp - looking on the brightside if you have less than 25 post then this wont be very many to unsubscribe.

I found the option to change the notifications on existing threads and the option (if I remember) to not get notifications when I post a new message. I was just after something to change the default. Is there any good reason to make people wait until they post 25 times before they can make a change like that? |

With each email the new member gets reminded that we're here and so they return sooner and continue to visit more regularly than before.
Not being able to change the default setting until they've made 25 posts also encourages them to get involved more
