| | | Site Down 12-13 March A Really Big Sorry!
Once again our host's server had a file system corruption yesterday and to fix it they had to run a file system check (fsck), which meant that everything had to switched off since yesterday afternoon.
It actually all started on Saturday when they found a few problems and started to run the fsck, which meant we were down for a couple of hours. It turns out that that fsck suddenly jumped from 70% to 100% complete and they thought that was OK so they switched us back on. Then yesterday they realised that the jump was probably the fsck skipping some of it's job, and in fact we'd still been running on a corrupt file system since Saturday. Yesterday afternoon they restarted the fsck, which meant we had to suddenly go offline again.
We've got daily backups of the site, but with no idea how far back the corruption goes, we'd have to at least go back as far as Friday's backup, which means we'd lose a lot of work. So the best bet was to just ride out the storm and wait to get back online.
It's been a real disaster for us and we really apologise for the inconvenience, we're now looking for a different host.

| | | Re: Site Down 12-13 March We're currently running checks and repairs to try and make sure everything is intact and the moment it looks like we have to sort out the frontpage news and some gallery thumbnails. If you spot anything else missing, please post some info about it here and we'll take a look.
Thanks

| | | Re: Site Down 12-13 March I forgot to mention that everything will be running a bit slower for a little while. All the other websites from other customers on our server are just starting up, so the resources will be taking a bit of a hit. |

My anti-virus software is throwing a wobbly when I open the gallery page. Keeps saying that various thumbnails 'may be infected by unknown virus EXPLOIT.jpeg' It never did this before the weekend.
Thanks for your efforts to get the site up and running again.

| | | Re: Site Down 12-13 March Hi Matt,
It looks like the file system problems happened whilst some of the images were being uploaded and so we couldn't generate the thumbnails properly. In all likelihood I think that this is probably throwing up a false positive from your anti-virus software, so we've deleted those images rather than try to regenerate them.
Hopefully, the A-V error shouldn't display anymore, but please let me know if it continues.
