| | | Problems uploading photos I'm having problems uploading some photos this morning, its coming back with an error message file size too small, I always upload at 900x600 so this shouldn't be happening. Some of the photos its rejecting are in portrait so are actually 600x900 whereas others are landscape. |

We are trying to automate the process so that images that are too small are automatically rejected. Unfortunately the software cannot be set to ensure that either the height or the width is 800 pixels. As a result we have simply had to set the minimum width to be 800 pixels.

| | | Re: Problems uploading photos I posted several pictures yesterday and received confirmatory emails saying that they had been accepted. However, I cannot find a yellowhammer or a barn owl included in the batch.
Perhaps the mod sent the wrong message but could someone explain what has gone on, please.
Thanks

| | | Re: Problems uploading photos I also tried uploading a portrait picture but couldn't, I played with it to get it to download but then got a message saying the quality wasn't good enough. The new rules make it very difficult to submit portrait photos, not all can be easily edited to make them landscape, it ruined the picture when I tried. |

I have just cropped and uploaded this which has been accepted and moderated without any problem.
It was uploaded at 800x1000. Hope this helps.

| | | Re: Problems uploading photos There seems to be a total lack of logic to the gallery process - couple days back I uploaded an image 600 x 396 px into the 'unidentified' gallery but today its shown up in the 'wildflowers' gallery.......presumably moved there by a gallery editor ......
But its way below the minimum size, and much smaller than images that other people are trying to upload there deliberately!!! |

it seems that this is one of the cases where admin can't win, whatever they do people complain,

I'm not sure how it got over to the wild flower gallery. I've now moved it back into unidentified, because, as you say, it's way too small for the main gallery. Is that more logical for you? |

It was uploaded at 800x1000. Hope this helps. | I tried this at the time but got a message saying the file was too big, I spent over 20 mins trying to get it to download, it then got rejected by the mods |

for wab I normally resize to 800 wide , at 72ppi then resave the file with a different file name (to avoid overwriting the original) and save at a quality setting of no more than 7 (ie medium). I am using photoshop but the settings are broadly similar in other photo editing software

| | | Re: Problems uploading photos I had a confirmation this morning saying my picture had been accepted. However when i click the link it says "Hi Reptilian, unfortunately you do not have permission to access this page. " and gives reasons but none apply to me. It hasn't appeared in my gallery either.
Any ideas?

Any ideas? | It was originally accepted, then realised it shouldn't have been, so it was removed. Let me think if I can see the reason, was it a UK bird, or a rare African one?? Not on the BOU list I'm afraid.
I'm tiring of these public questioning of editing decisions.
If any of you want to know why images were rejected, contact one of the editors by PM.
