Spellchecker on forums

Not sure if this is the right place to post this (or if anyone is bothered about the topic).

But, is there a spellchecking facility when posting a message? Am I missing something obvious or isn't there one.

Not a major problem just if anyone was interested I know of an alternative (could also be common knowledge and what everyone uses anyway).

If you install the Google toolbar onto your web browser it has a web form spellchecking facility that should do the trick.

As a new member I may be missing something like I said (either a spellchecker or that anybody cares!)

I've had the toolbar on my work PC for weeks and only noticed it the other day!

Re: Spellchecker on forums

When you reply to a post theres a little 'abc' on the top right. From that link you can download IE spellchecker for free which can be used whenever filling in anything online, including on this site

Spellcheckers spoil the fun of trying to guess what people are like! I like the individuality of the posts.

Hi Grumpy

Thanks - maybe it's me but I couldn't see the abc whilst posting this reply

I'm using Firefox as my web browser could it be that?

My updated browser has Google with an auto spell checker on and it works great for WAB posts.

Thanks for trying to help tho

Re: Spellchecker on forums

Hi Ann,

I agree - that's why I wondered if anyone was even bothered!

I'm a college lecturer, what can I say, too used to marking and correcting (or trying to guess what the word is supposed to be!)

Although I have a spellchecker I only really use it if I'm not sure about a certain word. I agree with you on that one, Ann, variations in spelling adds to character, just a shame my english teacher didn't agree when I was at school...........

Firefox has a built-in spell checker anyway so anything you type will be checked by the Browser.

Cheers Roy.

My laptop only updated Firefox a couple of days ago mid-browse on WAB. Prior to the update whenever I wrote a reply it didn't highlight it but post-update it now underlines misspelled words in the usual red line manner. Perhaps it's a recent addition?

I can see the ABC checker in the top right of the reply box now that I'm using my Desktop as well (I'm on Internet Explorer with it) but still not when on my laptop. I noticed as I've clicked it that it asks me to download ieSPell, which is a spell-checking tool for Internet Explorer. Pretty much confirms why it's not there on Firefox.

Crikey, if we had to have correct spelling, I'd be spending all night correcting eeyores posts!
I've worked out exactly how many Magners he's had, it's a straight relationship to the number of spelling errors!

Re: Spellchecker on forums

I've thought about using a spellcheckerer but decided that since i am practicaly perfect in every other way it is only fair to the rest of you to display this one minor imperfection

oh and kym - the answer to your question is, yes - getting beaucoup is yet another of my many talents
