From the photo's, personal experience and apparent size and description, the spider on right photo looks typical for Steatoda grossa particularly with ref. to 'purplish' appearance. None of the 100's of S. bipunctata I've collected have appeared like this, only varying shades of brown and having a more rotund appearance for a Steatoda sp.
An idea of size from front of carapace to rear of abdomen would be useful if it's still about.

Sorry I haven't got it, even though it was a hell if a specimen I'm truly terrified of spiders and wouldn't have dreamed of keeping him lol. The only other feature I can think of that no one has mentioned so far is the white markings on its head, that wasn't the camera flash it was actually there. And just that the bronze one was kind of bumpy looking. The purple one was do perfect and shiny it could have been made from wax or something.i googled pictures of Steatoda grossa and some match the purple one prrfectly
