Woodland spider for identification please

Taken today - mixed woodland. Linyphia species maybe?

Without a web for guidance, John, that is a tricky one.

There is a 'tuning fork' mark on the carapace, like Linyphia triangularis, but I sometimes find something similar on Meta (Metellina) segmenta.

However, the abdomen markings and those black spots on the legs tend to point me more to M. segmenta.

But that is just an amateur bit of pondering not a confirmed ID.

Hmm they just seemed to be moving up and down a web-line connected to a plant. Cheers for your suggestion though Geoff.

It's a Metellina species. Probably M. segmentata.
