| | False widow in my bedroom? Photos This is in my room:
This is what it looks like to me:
Or is it something else?
Read on the BBC website:
"The only UK spider whose bite can harm humans - cause swelling and nausea - is this noble false-widow. It is rare and can be recognised by the wine bottle marking on its back." BBC - Today - Have you seen more spiders this year?
The marking on mine looks like a wine bottle to me.
What should I do with it? Any risk of it laying eggs?
Thanks

This certainly looks like Steatoda nobilis to me but you really don't need to worry. I have some living in my kitchen and, as they become larger, I just re-locate them somewhere else locally.
As we know, they are all over the southern counties and moving north.
They really are not interested in us, just their prey items that are the right size to eat.
Not sure where you are living?
If you are accidentally bitten, It is said that it is similar to a bee sting and most people don't even know that they have been bitten as their jaws are only small and not painful.
They really are quite beautiful spiders and only want to be left alone to get on with their lives. If you are worried then just re-locate them to a shed or similar nearby.
