That looks like good old Araneus diadematus, she will be laying a lot of eggs soon and reducing in size by about a half or more.

They are very commonly seen, but, like many spiders (perhaps all), very attractive. In your second photo you can see the very typical cross marking, the first shows quite well the sort of shoulders that mark it as different from, say, Araneus quadratus. I love the bristly legs as well. (not yours, the spiders)

I like the colour of this one. In my garden they are all brown and grey. I'm fascinated by their colours... I think I need to get out more!
