| | | Harvestman with red body and black legs I have 2 photos (of poor quality, sadly), one showing the legs, not all in focus! It was large.
The other shows the red-orange body in some detail, but still a bit blurred.
Faint bars on the black legs.
Is species identification possible?
Thanks

| | | Re: Harvestman with red body and black legs I'd say a Leiobunum rotundum male.

| | | Re: Harvestman with red body and black legs I can't clearly see the ocularium (eye turret) markings but they seem rather dark so L. blackwalli is also possible.
But definitely a Leiobunum species, as Janet said. |

| | | Re: Harvestman with red body and black legs Thanks to all for that ID.
I had wondered whether it was that, but since I often suggest the wrong thing, I thought it better to ask first. I had looked at a website with harvestman photos & points to check, focused around the Sherwood Forest area, but had failed to download it all, after over an hour of trying. (that's what you get with dial-up!)

| | | Re: Harvestman with red body and black legs Nigel, can you get ADSL where you are? I was with AOL on dialup, they give you a measly 512kb max and you never get that but they were charging the same for dialup as broadband, then wanted another £5 a month! I was on BT's low user rate for the line rental so stuck with it until they increased the price!
I got a deal with BT for £5 a month for 18 months, they have been offering other good deals lately but not that cheap. The download speed is regulary 6.8-6.9mb. I got messed about with AOL for weeks as they told me all sorts of lies about what BT give you, but they messed up the deal they offered me so I was without internet for 6 weeks when I shouldn't have got cut off! BT are trying to get as many customers as they can in readiness for the country wide roll out of their new 20mb speed but you would pay more for that, what I get is really quick enough.

| | | Re: Harvestman with red body and black legs I probably need to try to get broadband again, but after a year or two of trying, it all seems to get a bit pointless. I think it needs an upgrade of the nearest phone exchange, which gives only inadequate broadband, to a really good speed, then there's a chance we might be able to get it. But I will see what it's like now with a test.
It certainly makes it a challenge uploading picture stuff using dial-up!
