| | | can someone confirm these id's Hello,
could someone confirm these id's for me, or name them correctly! Sorry the photography isn't as clear as could be
Areneus diadematus?
Larinioides species?
This one is fairly large at 6-7 cm long when it's all tucked up on its web
Tegenaria atrica? |

| | | Re: can someone confirm these id's 1. Aranaes diadematus - graden spider / garden cross spider / orb weaver
2. Zygiella x-notata I think; check out the web. If there is 1/4 of it missing with a line leading up through the missing sector to the spider's retreat then it is Zygiella.
3. Tegenaria species are tricky but could be T. atrica.
Cheers. Nik.

| | | Re: can someone confirm these id's Fully agree with Nikolai. The Tegenaria you will not be able to fully ID from just a photo. The Zygiella is probably Z.x-notata but again you probably can't fully ID from a photo

| | | Re: can someone confirm these id's I agree with all the above comments. When looking at No 2, the very distinct foliate marking may lead you towards Lariniodes sp, but Zygiella has that sort of silvery sheen that is very distinctive. You don't mention where you found these spids (not geographically, but in what habitats). This would help.

2 & 3 had made their homes in a stack of plastic 3"x3" posts
1 was in my garden
I live within 100m of a harbour side on a vegetated shingle nature reserve so lots of water, wind & salt! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
