| | | 2 large spiders fighting? Hey hope someone can clarify something for me. I was just heading to bed when on the floor there were two rather large spiders kinda staring at each other. Now i know nothing of spiders, and am slightly arachnophobic so had to scoop them up and put them in the garden, not without drama!
One seemed rather lively while the other pretty sedated, so i was wondering if maybe it was hurt or something? They were almost identical in appearance so would they actually fight each other? |

Not that I know much, but as it is now officially (meteorologically anyway). It is possible that they were:
A) Fighting over mating rights/territory or
B) Going through the mating ritual.
Did you get any Photo's before 'evicting' them? If so post them here so one of the clever bods can ID them.
Best of luck

Il try and photograph this one as i have not evicted it, it seems to be cowering behind my computer desk! Do i have a nest or something?
Ive just done a bit of research online and i think its the Tegenaria species. |

No worries, imsomnia strikes again . http://http://www.wildaboutbritain.c...ast-night.html
This thread might be informative, so long as you can avoid freaking out!!!!! Also check out Wikipedia re: Tegenaria duellica, it's quite informative.
But sounds very much like this is mating related if you have narrowed the ID down to Tegenaria.
I think you may well end up with a definitive answer tomorrow as most sensible people are sleeping, unless they are unlucky and are having to work! ATB
