Hello folks,
When I went camping last weekend in a large grassy area in Norfolk I found this guy climbing out of the grass onto my bag. If it helps it was in the afternoon it appeared (it has a long shadow from the setting sun).
It was just over 20mm me thinks.

I would agree, look at the pattern on the back. Pattern on spiders bodies is not very reliable, but in this case it is distinctive, sometimes known as "snake backed" spider. Perhaps you had plonked your tent on it's retreat. They live in holes and cracks in walls.

Thank you guys, I did a little search to find some info on the species, I am guessing this would be the female?
