| | | unknown spider in house My girlfriend got bitten by a spider on the finger we think it came from the bathroom she had a single puncher mark red on the bite but no swelling or soreness. it looks like a picture I found on-line of a spider called Amaurobius fenestralis but the markings are a lot lighter than on the one that bit her hand, but its got very similar markings on the back half of the body(don't know anything about spiders) and the legs look very similar, I don't know how much variation for the same type of spider you can get. My girlfriend also reckons the back half on the one that bit her is thinner if anyone can tell me anything because i cant find a spider that looks exactly like that anywhere on-line and i only got a few pictures but there not very good one's. |

| | | Re: unknown spider in house We think it might be the Amaurobius Ferox do they bite for example when you pick up a towel its hiding in, and are they common in yorkshire because we never seen one like it before I i always thought spiders in Britain did't bite. |

| | | Re: unknown spider in house There are few spiders capable of puncturing human skin in the Uk. Most of them will only bite if being squashed. I'm not sure of the distribution of A. Ferox though. |
