| | | Spider for ID Taken this evening at Mere Sands wood near Rufford.
Initially thought our old pal the Garden / Cross spider - and I know they can be very variable - but this looks different enough to be erm... different?
This one was also nearby...

| | | Re: Spider for ID I will go for Lariniodes sclopetarius. A nice spider to find, very locally distributed and often associated with water. The velvety but very distinct markings are distinctive. I have posted a photo some time ago on the site. There are also some pics of mine of L. cornutas, for comparison.
