| | | Early for spider hatching Came to clean the floor in my house and found my bucket covered with near a hundred of these little guys, they weren't there a couple of hours beforehand.
Any ideas on what they are?
Most have been relocated to the garden but I've kept a couple of dozen to help with pest control. |

| | | Re: Early for spider hatching Welcome Chris. Spiderlings are a bit of a handful to identify but if it is possible, someone here will be able to do it.
It is a very friendly and helpful site.

| | | Re: Early for spider hatching They remind me of the spiderlings of the Garden Orb Spider, Araneus diadematus- they have similar pattern, but I'm not a spider expert, so may be wrong here! You certainly get large numbers of them together. |

I've never heard of them are they just baby spiders? And are they the same as the thousands of tiny golden ones I see in the summer usually attached to the gate handle or some where else I have to touch? |

And yes your golden spiders are probably the same as these if my ID is correct. |

There isn't much wildlife in Gosport unfortunately. I'll be getting some bird feeders up at some time and some insect attracting plants in my little garden.
Engine building, gardening and redecorating! It's going to be a busy year! |

You say you have a little garden, the feeders will definately help, but be patient as the birds have to find you. My garden is also very small but I have been able to change it from a "back yard" to a wildlife friendly garden by planting specifically to attact certain insects and feeding the birds. I live in a town, with a walled yard, no hedging, lawn or trees but I managed and I'm dead chuffed with the results.
You can have a look if you fancy it shows what can be done - good luck with your garden and birds, use and enjoy the resources of WAB. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
