Dave. | I always hang a towel over the side of the bath (except when using it) and they all seem to get out. As for the bed, they will have stomped through that.

As the chain is quite thin, coupled with the fact the leg span of the spider is quite huge and what I would assume has little dexterity compared to other spiders it might not be possible at all. It seems an experiment needs to be performed!
Although in my bath the plug usually sits on the bath edge or hanging from a tap anyway so there wouldn't be a chance of the spider climbing up it.
I like the idea of a towel as Meta menardi suggests!

Dave. | Sod that for a game o' soldiers!!! I prefer the idea of leaving the beggars exactly where they are until I'm ready to deal with them.
My Mum used to make a point of making sure the bath-plug was firmly fitted before retiring to bed as she was convinced that they were coming up the drain-pipe. No matter how often we pointed out that the size of spider she was harbouring in her house were incapable of fitting the drain-pipe(I think they must've been mutants)she follows her bed-time plug check to this day.

| | | Re: Spider in the bath for ID please Unfortunately, my eldest son decided to 'help' said spider from the bath & gave it an accidental, early death!
I think it's brother must've come in search, coz there was another one in there this morning!
I duly helped this one out the window so it didn't meet the same fate as the other one!
