| | | Opiliones sp - Harvestmen? I know they're not true spiders but does anyone have any knowledge about Opiliones sp - commonly known as a harvestman. My partner was moving some cut logs in the garden yesterday and I found a creature I initially thought was a spider. When I looked closer I saw that the body appeared unsegmented. Hence, my second thought was it was a harvestman. But the legs were rather short. I was under the impression opiliones sp all had long spindly legs.
I wasn't able to get a photo as it hid in a crevice in the log. However, if it helps at all it was a mottled brown colour all over. |

You may find this link helpful Opiliones
While, as their name suggests, they are mostly associated with late summer/autumn there are some around now. And one that I regularly find in my garden is Paroligolophus agrestis which has a maximum leg length of 20 mm. |
