| | London Spider Identification!! I'd needed for this little fella!! - Wild About Britain Pics
Whilst finishingwork at 12.30am this morning I saw this little fella hurriedly scuttling directly towards me from the middle of my work yard/carpark. Once I moved, it stopped in its tracks long enough to have its picture taken then carried on its way to the dark underbelly of a parked car. I'd like to know what species of spider it is & it's habits..... I've been told it could be a 'mouse spider' but it looks to long &thin (approx 1inch in totall length as seen)
I was tendin to a small walled garden at the time!!! Is this it's home?? Was it threaten by my presence there??
Thanks for your help

| | | Re: London Spider Identification!! By the way, its common name is the Tube-web Spider, making its tubular web in walls and fence posts. The web has trip wires radiating outward from the tube that send vibrations to the spider inside. It will respond to these by rushing out to cease its prey.

Infact they have been found mostly in areas where there are or have been docks, particularly in the south.
I live within half a mile of a very large population of them.
