Unidentified Large Spider


Help with ID of this spider please. It is very large with red and black striped legs and a brown pattern on the body. Found inside a garage near Sittingbourne, Kent. A friend asked me to ID as I am an environmental consultant, but I'm no good with invertebrates.

Had a response back from the Natural History Museum website - this is apparently a cave spider Meta Menardi.

Think I went to a lecture about these last year. Don't they make tear-shaped egg sacs?
