Can anyone help ID this little critter please?

Hello all

Been meaning to join for a while but i've finally been prompted into action.

My partner was drying her hair when this little chap fell out of the towel. She was a little flustered by it and interrupted my reading...grrrr!

Can anyone help. Apologies for the poor image

its a spider................. only joking, well it is a spider, and i dont know what they are but i usually find them on a piece of wood in the sun in the garden

my track record on spiders is wavy to say the least but Amaurobius ferox is a possible candidate

Thanks Chris, did a bit of research and the markings etc seem to fit with your suggestion. Set it free under a nice dark log anyway. Went to check yesterday and it had made a nice little web for itself.
