ID : Small woodland spider species.

Evening,

During a lichen walk yesterday at Dunsford, I rummaged around some log piles and found this small spider species. No more than five millimetres in length approximately.

So far my best guess from Collins (Roberts) is Pachygnatha degeeri due to the markings on the abdomen and the leg colouration.

Can anyone advise or assist me here? Unfortunately I do not have the specimen as I had too much on my hands already.

Hi Andrew,

I think you're right. The only other candidate is P. listeri, but the colour of the carapace looks rather dark, suggesting P. degeeri.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have five or six spider species troubling me so to get one sorted is appreciated.
