Petrol-sniffing spider

A type of car has had to be recalled because the yellow-sac spider is attracted to the petrol fumes given off, and blocks the pipes with its webs endangering the engine! (This is in America.)

Interesting stuff, have you a link to the info? I personally can't see it myself, only if the pipes were dry and in the factory and then the habitat is unusual though I have come across them in factory situations in hems of sacking.
And as for being attracted to the petrol fumes...............
Is America that far ahead timewise? It's a few weeks until April 1st here!

There are lots on Google. Some claim that the spiders may have entered the car parts before cars were assembled. Looks pretty bad by the numbers they claim to be recalling. If it was anywhere near next month, I'd agree April Fool, but looks genuine!

I can see it now - in vent pipes. Spiders themselves will not hang around once the cars are operational and certainly won't be attracted to fuel. I can well understand the problem the web can cause, it's very hard to get rid of.
