| | | ID : Five Spiders. Good evening WAB,
I have five spiders that I have had a look at during the week and would like to ask for assistance in pursuing an identification if possible for any of them. The first four were found at night on the walls of the house in Tiverton (Devon, UK) and the fifth was out in the country lanes nearby. SPIDER ONE : The first one attached to this post I suspect to be a member of the Araneide family due to the eye arrangement of four close together in the middle and two pairs on the side almost touching each other. I suspect it could be Nuctenea umbratica.
Regards,
Andrew.

| | | Re: ID : Five Spiders. SPIDER THREE : I must apologise for this poor image as it was a very skittish spider seen at night on the walls of the house and measured only about three or four millimetres which was a test for my meagre camera skills. I have so far felt like sticking my neck out by saying this to be of the Clubionidae family and possibly Clubiona comta on the basis that it looks to have some markings very close to this species on plate five in Roberts.

| | | Re: ID : Five Spiders. SPIDER FIVE : This one was found in an hedgerow at Craze Lowman (Devon, UK) and is highly mobile at speed when uncovered before settling in a dark spot and is now running free somewhere in the room as I type. Could this possibly be Pardosa amentata?

The first is the Walnut Orb-Weaver, Nuctenea umbratica.
The second is a female Tetragnathid so a good close-up of her abdominal side ventrally would be required.
Next up I can't help on.
Agreed with bipunctatus.
For the last you'll need to catch and again, you'll need to study her epigynal patterning.
Take care, Jason |

Meanwhile here are few more images (very similar) that might shed some additional light on it?
Thanks again for the confirmations and additional help with the others Jason. Hopefully the extra pictures I have added will be of some help.
Regards,
Andrew. |

I, as I think I've said before, don't have that NW Europe key. |
