| | | Spider for identification, possible biting spider? Hello,
I'm a new member here and after reading many of the comments, I thought I would ask for some of your expert advice.
My mother had a bite over the weekend (she supposes it was a bite), the area around the bite on her leg swelled up quickly and felt painful, but no real other symptoms (no sickness, etc), a bit like a wasp bite and the swelling went down later in the same day.
She looked around to see if she could find anything to blame and just found this little spider on her bed! It's not the best photo, but perhaps you could tell from this what species it is and if it could be to blame (about the size of a 10p, possible false widow? She lives in the New Forest, an area reported to have quite a few):
Thanks very much,
Alisdair

| | | Re: Spider for identification, possible biting spider? Hard to tell from picture quality but there is a hint of a S.Nobilis marking on it. S.Nobilis and S.Grossa are both prevalent in Dorset and Hampshire (and surrounding counties) so i don't see why they wouldn't be found in the New Forest. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
