| | | Shared web? I found an orb web in my local wood this morning with three spiders apparently sharing the web. I don't know the species but they were all the same kind and the same size, and equally spaced on the web. I've not seen this before. Presumably one of them made the web. What were the others doing there? |

| | | Re: Shared web? I found a female Meta (Metellina) segmentata on a web on Saturday (30th October 2010). When I moved my camera I noticed a male of the same species underneath a nettle leaf.
A few minutes later the male caught a fly and then the pair of them sparred for several minutes, before mating. Yesterday the pair were still together, but I noticed another male. It looked at first as though it was sharing their web, but closer inspection revealed that it was on a different web a few millimetres from the first one.
The second male was also attending a female.
This morning the original pair are still together on their web.
