Big wolf spider

No picture but today i saw a large wolf spider that looked identical to this...

Its body was around 15mm - 18mm total leg span around 2 inch. Very distinct grayish blue appearance and very beautiful (if a little intimidating).

This photo is of a wolf spider somewhere in the US so i doubt it is the same spider but they look exactly the same.

Whereabouts did you see it? If anywhere near a riverbank/lakeside/beach type area then have a Google for Arctosa cinerea althhough I think this is regarded as a 'northern' species.

You're right that Arctosa cinerea is a Northern species (see distribution map below):

Have a look also at Arctosa perita, it's a bit more common and comparatively coastal in distribution as well as occuring inland.

Thanks guys but it definitely didn't look like either of those spiders. I can not stress how identical the spider in this picture i've linked looked to the spider i saw, the only obvious difference between what i saw and the spider in the picture would be body size.... mine being probably a little smaller.
