| | | House Spider Hey guys,
First post here, firstly amazing site that folk can recognise unusual creatures and have them recognised by education then hopfully educate others, sweet!
I've inteneded to use this site on occasions prior to this but things have sidetracked me, so here I am now.... really excited...
My partner is not sadly, she's extremely freakish at the mo'...
In the past 2 days we have had, to our experience, pretty large eight legged guests swagger across our living room laminate on the exact same path, one month ago another on a different route.
I have read this time is breeding time for most spiders so these wee chaps can be expected to be rampaging about looking for some action.
I have educated my partner these large chaps do more good than bad and pose no threat and there is really no way of dislodging them from houses.
Anyways the picture....
PS.. a better integration process between user images and site GUI is required, as the current method is shabby, no disrespect but it could and can be improved... Apologies for assumptions but this looks is a Vbulletin forum product... this place is essential! |

| | | Re: House Spider The photo is a little unclear, but you have a male Tegenaria species there, and by the look of the palps he's mature; you would have to look at the palps under magnification to pin it down to a species. There are a lot of them around at the moment, and they are completely harmless. This one seems to have lost a leg.
When posting pics for ID it's good to give the size of the animal if possible, as this can help with ID. Best to quote spider sizes from fangs to spinners, ie excluding legs.
I can't say I've had any problems with uploading images, but by the number of posts on the subject quite a few people do. |

Yours must've met a female or two as he's not unscathed so far!
They do appear to follow the same route and at around the same time of evening I've noticed over the years, probably following pheromones left by the track of a female.
